I was pulling into Trader Joe’s this evening and I noticed an SUV next to me that was about the same size as my current ML320. I liked the chassis of this car so I had to step out and see what it was – it was the Ford Edge. I keep picking Fords, don’t I? After finishing up the shopping and a movie, I came home and researched this car.
Here’s what I found on Edmunds:
“The 2010 Ford Edge is a solid entry in the midsize crossover SUV category, but it wouldn’t be our first choice.
Pros – Quiet and roomy cabin, comfortable ride, Sync system, lots of standard safety equipment, strong crash test scores.
Cons - Mediocre braking distances, unresponsive transmission, antiquated stereo/climate controls, some cheap interior bits.”

THOUGHTS
Remember when Ford came out with the “Probe” and it changed what we expected from vehicles from then on? It’s disappointing to read that the interior of the Ford Edge is “ugly.” As appealing as it looked on the outside, I was hoping that the interior would be something to get excited about as well. I did peak into the Edge next to me and it looked like it had a full nav system. Come to think of it, the model next to me was a limited edition so maybe there’s hope.
I haven’t crossed this off completely from my test-drive list, but it may not make it to the top three either.
